For those who may have known Matt…..RIP Ole friend.

LONG, Mr. Madison M., age 78, passed away on January 12, 2019. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven H. Long. Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Trudie; son, Brian and his wife, Kim; three grandchildren, Hunter, Joshua, Austin and their mother, Amy Long; sister, Lucy Painter; and brother, Billy Long. He was a retiree from Virginia Power, an Eagle Scout, an amateur radio operator "N4MI," volunteer at Goochland Fire Company 2 and an Elder and Deacon at Hebron Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held on January 19, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the church located at 1080 Shallow Well Road, Manakin-Sabot, Va. 23103. A reception will follow. It is with much sadness and a heavy heart that I report that Madison (Mat) Long, N4MI became a silent key this morning (January 12, 2019).  He had been dealing with some medical issues over the past several weeks.

Mat was first licensed in 1954.  He was a Life Member of the ARRL, a member of the Central Virginia 6 Meter SSB Net and the Goochland Amateur Radio Team.   One of Mat’s greatest enjoyments was Field Day.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized.

Please keep Mat’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
